Two lawyers were assaulted, suffering head injuries. The Supreme Court directed Delhi police to add charges of attempt to murder and grievous hurt under BNS, and to transfer the investigation to the Crime Branch for an impartial probe.

Prajwal Revanna, suspended Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former MP, is accused of rape and sexual assault involving a maid who worked at a farmhouse belonging to the Revanna family. Multiple criminal cases involving over 2,900 videos depicting sexual assaults allegedly by Revanna were registered following a Special Investigation Team probe. A trial court in Bengaluru convicted Revanna in the first rape case in August 2025 and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Multiple investigations and trials arising from ethnic violence and sexual assault incidents in Manipur are ongoing. The Supreme Court has proposed constituting special courts to conduct day-to-day trials and directed expedited submission of chargesheets to victims' families within one week.

On December 16, 2012, a 23-year-old physiotherapy student was gang-raped, brutally assaulted, and murdered in a moving bus in south Delhi. Six people were accused of the crime; one was a juvenile. Four adult convicts were sentenced to death and executed in March 2020 at Tihar jail. The case led to significant reforms in sexual assault laws in India.

Ninety-five criminal cases, mainly involving Muslims accused in communal incidents as well as activists of pro-Kannada, farmer and Dalit groups, were ordered to be withdrawn by the Siddaramaiah government in two separate orders (October 15, 2024 and May 27, 2026). The Karnataka High Court has intervened multiple times to block these withdrawal orders, citing that individual prosecutors hold prosecutorial discretion under Section 321 of the CrPC.

A 24–26-year-old physiotherapist named Sai Surabhi was found dead in a locked room at a homestay near Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur district, Karnataka on Monday. Her boyfriend, Sanjeeth Ali, a cab driver from Kerala, was found unconscious beside her. Police have registered a murder case and are investigating whether he murdered her and attempted suicide, or whether they entered a suicide pact.
