A drug trafficking accused arrested with approximately 10 grams of heroin died by suicide in Ludhiana jail custody. The accused allegedly used a piece of cloth torn from a mattress zipper to hang himself while in the lock-up. The incident occurred on a Thursday morning.

A case involving charges under Sections 304B and 498A IPC related to dowry death. The Allahabad High Court reviewed the conviction and reduced the sentences to time already undergone, noting that life imprisonment is not automatic in dowry death cases.

A trial court took cognizance in a dowry death case where the FIR was lodged under Section 302 IPC but the chargesheet was submitted under Sections 304-B and 498-A IPC and Sections 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act. The Allahabad High Court directed that murder should be framed as the main charge with Section 304-B as an alternative.

A one-and-a-half-year-old boy named Arshid allegedly died at the hands of his stepfather in Nedumangad, Thiruvananthapuram. The Kerala High Court ordered expedited chargesheet filing, though the State later reported delays due to pending forensic reports.

38 members of the Indian Mujahideen terror outfit were convicted and sentenced to death by a special court in February 2022 for their involvement in the Ahmedabad blasts. The high court rejected all appeals and upheld the death sentences in a judgment citing the scale of terror and conspiracy.
